Today is the feast of the Martyrs Saints Marius, Martha, Audifax, and Abachus, pious Persians who travelled to Rome to the tombs of the Apostles in the reign of Claudius.

I'm not sure what the history of the feast of Saint Hilary is; his name was not in the 1570 Martyrology yesterday and his feast is not today in the 1920 Missale but Divinum Officium on its 1570 page provides the texts for his feast: on its 1954, Divino afflatu and 1960 pages, it is the feast of the Holy Martyrs. Presumably, at some point after 1570 the feast of Saint Hilary was moved. At Barroux this morning the monks are singing the Mass of the Holy Martyrs, Iusti epulentur et exsultent. But I was late to the Office and must say Prime before going further with this page.

At Saint-Eugène, M le Curé is celebrating the Sunday Mass, Omnis terra adoret te, but commemorating also both the Holy Martyrs of Persia and Holy Danish King.

Tomorrow, by the way, the annual Requiem for Louis XVI will be sung at Saint-Eugène, the 21st being Sunday.  At 1000 here.

At some point someone determined that Dominus rather than Deus best represented the authentic textual tradition, I presume, but I didn't look about for the Deus version.

At Cantus Index, this Communion antiphon is described as belonging to the Commune Apostolorum or to the Commune Martyrum so am not sure why it doesn't show up at Gregobase; i
n the Graduale triplex, it is found in the Commune Martyrum outside Paschaltide . The simplest explanation of course is that nobody has gotten around to uploading it, for whatever reason-- perhaps having to do with the fact that this feast is suppressed in the Pauline Rite. I don't know.

Today is also the feast of Saint Canute, King (of Denmark) and Martyr, which was formerly commemorated at this Mass. In monasteries, cathedrals, capitular churches etc, that is in places where there were customarily more than one priest, in the traditional practice there would have been someone who celebrated his Mass, In virtute tua Domine.
