A lovely mild morning with a temperature in the 50s...

Today in the Traditional Rite it is the feast of the confessor Saint Joachim, Father of the Blessed Virgin (Introibo, CE, Wiki). It is interesting to read at Introibo that the feasts of the Presentation of Our Lady and of Saints Anne and Joachim were not included in the Missal by Pius V because in the wicked days of the Protestant movement Rome didn't care to give those fellows any ammunition by seeming to rely on the apocryphal writings (e.g. that of the Gospel of Saint James). The Mass is Dispérsit, dedit paupéribus. This is the Gradual since I don't see any recordings of the Introit.

Post Vesperas. It was just beyond 80 earlier; cooling down now. But I've been daydreaming about rain, beautiful rain. Pft; a perfectly lovely day and I'm wishing for some other sort of day-- am wicked and ungrateful, sometimes.

It is also the feast of Saint Stephen (11th century), of Saint Theodorus (4th century), and of Saint Frambaldus (6th century).

V. Et álibi aliórum plurimórum sanctórum Mártyrum et Confessórum, atque sanctárum Vírginum. R. Deo grátias.
