A splendid morning with clear skies yet again...

It seems that the temperature later on will be creeping upward to almost 90, from the 54 or 55 that it is now. Summer. It is the feast of the Confessor Saint Vincent de Paul (Introibo, CE, Wiki). There is a proper Mass for France and the Vincentian religious, none of the parts of which can I find in YT recordings; but I didn't search directly (as opposed to via the Blogger interface, I mean).

Post Sextam. The president of Notre-Dame de Chrétienté in France, Jean de Tauriers, issued a statement on Saturday that Rorate Caeli on Twitter has characterised today as 'the best such statement thus far'.

Notre-Dame de Chrétienté expresses its great sadness at the publication of Traditionis Custodes, the motu proprio of Pope Francis who in this shows only contempt for so-called traditionalist Catholics. We will pray in particular for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI who has seen, in his very lifetime, his work of reconciliation swept away.

The traditional Christian pilgrimage created in 1983 had believed in the promises of Saint John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger in 1988: "You have your place in the Church, just as you are". Obviously, the situation in Rome has changed and the new urgency is to rekindle the liturgical war. The argument put forward leaves one speechless: place the young diocesan priests attracted by the Traditional Mass 'under control'! Erect a wall-- so intends the Pope-- to prevent the discovery of the rich spirituality of the Tridentine Mass!

Beyond the anger (we will well control it!), in this painful situation we remain confident. Clericalism/caporalisme never works very well; the motu proprio will be difficult to apply in a Church which is in a catastrophic situation and which has many other difficulties (that the Vatican pretends not to see).

Our Lady of Christendom will continue to bring together thousands of pilgrims, regardless of whether this a new season for persecution-- which we have already known, I want to add. We will adapt to inclement weather, to Covid, to the motu proprio, as always, on pilgrimage and in prayer for the Holy Church, our homelands, and the hope of our salvation.

Our Lady of Holy Hope, convert us.

Most Holy Virgin, help Pope Francis in his pontificate.

Saint Joseph, protect the Church.

Jean de Tauriers President NDC

Ante Completorium. I've neglected to record that the afternoons and evenings these days are redolent of the scent of ripening apples-- the tree is heavily weighted with 'em this year. It is like being inside the oven while the pie is baking (well, it was only 88 and is already down to 81).

It is also the feast of Saint Macrina (4th century), of Saint Arsenius the Great (5th century), and of Pope Saint Symmachus (6th century).

V. Et álibi aliórum plurimórum sanctórum Mártyrum et Confessórum, atque sanctárum Vírginum. R. Deo grátias.
