The skies are opaque and so no flaming Sun yet...

But huge draughts of cool air were flowing in from the West as I left the supermarket at perhaps 0620 or so, and large masses of dark rain clouds lowered about the horizon. I expect that Phoebus will be out in one of his flash suits in a while but for the moment I can imagine falling rain. Today is the Friday in the Octave of Corpus Christi, the second day of the Octave (Introibo here and here), and is also the feast of Saint Francesco Caracciolo (Introibo, CE, Wiki). I'm saying the Office of the Octave with commemorations of Saint Francis at Lauds and Vespers. There's the Sun; 0723. Time for Prime.

Post Tertiam. Am browsing through the works featured during the Oregon Bach Festival and came across the following sentence. The performer "delivers a lush array of piano works from America’s first large-scale female composer Amy Beach". What is a 'large-scale female'? I suppose what is meant is, 'female composer of large-scale works', and in spite of the phrasing I reckon I understood when I first read the sentence. But, really....

It is also the feast of Saint Quirinus of Tivoli (4th century), of Saint Petroc (6th century), and of Saint Buriana of Cornovaglia (6th century).

V. Et álibi aliórum plurimórum sanctórum Mártyrum et Confessórum, atque sanctárum Vírginum. R. Deo grátias.
