During the homily, ahem...

I take the opportunity to put the Victimae paschali laudes here. This sequence is sung before the Gospel on Easter and during the Octave.

Víctimæ pascháli laudes ímmolent Christiáni.
Agnus rédemit oves: Christus ínnocens Patri reconciliávit peccatóres.
Mors et vita duéllo conflixére mirándo: dux vitæ mórtuus regnat vivus.
Dic nobis, María, quid vidísti in via?
Sepúlcrum Christi vivéntis et glóriam vidi resurgéntis.
Angélicos testes, sudárium et vestes.
Surréxit Christus, spes mea: præcédet vos in Galilǽam.
Scimus Christum surrexísse a mórtuis vere: tu nobis, victor Rex, miserére. Amen. Allelúja.

I must already have done this since Easter.

I wonder if I'm actually listening to the homily now because I find the preacher's accent and vocabulary interesting or for more laudable reasons. Both, perhaps.

A different version of the Victimae paschali laudes by the wonderful Polish ensemble Jerycho. They have recorded this on their album Surgit Leo Fortis. The one on the album is rather different than this that they performed in the studio but it is too late in the evening for me to listen carefully to both of them.
